Former minister Joseph passes away at 79

Thiruvananthapuram: Former minister of Kerala and senior Janata Dal leader Professor NM Joseph passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 79. He died Tuesday morning at Paul Merion Medical Center. His last rites will be held on Wednesday.

His body will be brought to his residence at Palakada Puthur on Tuesday afternoon. This information is provided by Joseph’s family. On the other hand, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed grief over Joseph’s demise. The Chief Minister also expressed his condolences to his family.

Joseph was born on October 18, 1943. He started his political career from the Youth Congress. He later became the Youth Congress State Vice President. Joseph joined Janata Dal in 1977. From 1987 to 1991, he was the Minister of Forests in Ek Nayanar’s government. Apart from this, he was also Professor of Economics at St. Thomas College, Pala. Similarly, Joseph was the chairman of the Janata Dal and also the national chairman in Kerala.
