Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra to be Torchbearer for Paris Olympics 2024

New Delhi: India’s Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra will be the torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The French capital will host the Summer Olympics from July 26 to April 16.

Abhinav Bindra won a gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Taking to X, Bindra said, ” Excited to share that I’ll be a torch bearer for the @paris2024 Olympic Games, a beacon of peace and perseverance across the globe. This flame represents our collective spirit and the power of dreams. It is a great privilege and honour!”

The torch rally for the Paris Olympics will start in France on May 8 and the Olympic flame will travel around the globe for 68 days to arrive in Marseille. The torch relay will travel through about 65 regions in 68 days, five of which are overseas territories.

As of May 2024, 11,000 torchbearers will be forming a relay, including Bindra.
