Grandpa of Pune Teen Arrested in Porsche Drunken Crash Case That Killed 2 Techies

Pune: The grandfather of the Pune teen, who ran over two 24-year-old IT professionals in a late-night drunken dash in a Porsche, was arrested. He was arrested by the Pune police after the family’s driver alleged that he was wrongfully confined, threatened and told to take the blame for the accident, sources said.

According to sources, kidnapping charges may also be invoked against the grandfather.

Pune Police on Friday said efforts were made to force the driver to take blame minutes after the accident. It is alleged that after the accident, the grandfather locked up the driver from May 19 to 20, and asked him to take the blame to protect the erring minor.

Two IT professionals, Ashwini Kostha and Anish Awadhiya, travelling on a bike were hit from behind by the Porsche, being driven by the heavily drunk teen at 200 km per hour.

Immediate release of the teen led to nationwide outrage and the Juvenile Justice Board had to send him to an observation home till a police plea for permission to try him as an adult is decided. The boy’s father and staff of two bars the teenager visited that night were also arrested.
