Hardik Pandya Becomes No.1 T20I All-rounder After World Cup Heroics

Hardik Pandya has ascended to the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I all-rounder rankings after his standout performances in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Indian vice-captain surged two places to share the top spot with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga. Pandya’s pivotal contributions with both bat and ball were instrumental in India’s World Cup victory, culminating in a remarkable final against South Africa at the Kensington Oval, Barbados, on June 29.

Throughout the tournament, Pandya’s crucial late-order runs and key wickets proved vital for Team India. His standout moment came in the final, where he dismissed Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, significantly shifting the game’s momentum in India’s favour as they defended 177 runs. Over the course of the tournament, Pandya amassed 144 runs at a strike rate of 151.57 and claimed 11 wickets in 8 matches, with his best figures of 3/20 in the final, maintaining an economy rate of 7.64.

Other notable changes in the top 10 T20I all-rounder rankings included Marcus Stoinis, Sikandar Raza, Shakib Al Hasan, and Liam Livingstone each moving up one spot, while Mohammad Nabi fell four spots, exiting the top five.

In the men’s T20I bowling rankings, South Africa’s Anrich Nortje achieved a career-best 2nd place, rising seven positions to trail behind top-ranked Adil Rashid with 675 rating points. Player of the Tournament, Jasprit Bumrah, soared 12 spots to secure the 12th position, his highest ranking since late 2020.
