Heavy Rains Expected in 9 Odisha Districts Due to Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Odisha coast, influenced by a cyclonic circulation over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to move northwestwards over the next two days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Citing its impact, on Saturday, the IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of Odisha. Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh are to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, and Dhenkanal may experience heavy rainfall.

The IMD has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea off the Odisha coast and the northwest Bay of Bengal till June 30 as squally weather with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph is expected over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha coast.

The IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall to nine districts including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul and Dhenkanal.
