Heavy Security & Restrictions for Muharram in Balasore

Balasore: Security has been heightened in Balasore for Muharram.

Around 40 platoons of state police along with three companies of BSF have been deployed Balasore that experienced communal violence in recent past. More than 250 home guards and 150 police officers will be part of the security arrangement in Balasore during the Muharam observation.

The administration has also imposed several restrictions for maintenance of law and order during the Muharram observation. Use of DJ system and loud speakers has been restricted. No one will be allowed to display any kind of sharp weapon during the Muharram. Use of firecrackers has been completely banned.

The police have conducted a flag march in Balasore ahead of Muharram.

On June 17, communal tension occurred between two groups near Bhuzhakhia Pir in Balasore. To curb the tension, administration had to impose curfew in the entire municipal area of Balasore.
