New Delhi: Early trends hint at major gain for the INDIA bloc, and Congress in particular, in comparison to the 2019 General Elections. According to India Today, the vote share analysis at 11 am showed NDA getting 44 per cent of the total votes polled, and the INDIA bloc 41 per cent.
At 11 am, the NDA was in the lead on 291 seats and the INDIA bloc on 226 seats. The Congress, which won only 52 seats in 2019, was leading in 98 Lok Sabha constituencies.
In 2019, the BJP won 303 seats on its own crossing the halfway mark of 272. The party had secured 37.36% of the total votes. The Congress received 19.5% of the total votes.
The Opposition alliance’s tally seems to be better in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress-Samajwadi Party combine was ahead on 42 seats, while the BJP was leading on 37 seats at 11 am.
In 2019, the BJP clinched a major victory in Uttar Pradesh, bagging 62 out of 80 seats.
