Kanpur: Yashasvi Jaiswal’s explosive half-century guided India to a 7-wicket victory in the second Test against Bangladesh, completing a 2-0 series whitewash in Kanpur on Tuesday.
India chased down the modest 95-run target in the post-lunch session, despite losing 2 and a half days to rain.
Bangladesh entered the series on a high after defeating Pakistan 2-0 but were outclassed by India in both Tests.
Rohit Sharma’s men sealed the game within just six sessions, solidifying their place at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.
The fourth day of the match saw India take charge with a 52-run first-innings lead, propelled by Jaiswal’s blistering 72 off 51 balls. India declared at 285/9 in their second innings, leaving Bangladesh with an uphill task.
Bangladesh struggled in response, collapsing from 91/3 to 146 all out, thanks to Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/50 and Jasprit Bumrah’s 3/17. Shadman Islam’s gritty 50 and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 37 were the only notable contributions.
