Mumbai: With less than a year until India’s highly anticipated tour of the United Kingdom, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the fixtures for the upcoming five-Test series.
This series will mark the beginning of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and will see India take on England in what promises to be an intense two-month-long contest.
India has not won a Test series in England since 2007, with their last attempt in 2021 ending in a 2-2 draw. Now, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India will aim to break the 17-year drought and secure a historic win on English soil.
The series will kick off at Headingley in Leeds, where the first Test is scheduled from June 20 to 24. Following a week-long break, the action will move to Edgbaston in Birmingham for the second Test from July 2 to 6. The third Test will take place at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London from July 10 to 14, before moving to Old Trafford in Manchester for the fourth Test from July 23 to 27. The tour will conclude with the final Test at The Oval in London from July 31 to August 4.
There is no confirmation yet on whether India will play any warm-up matches ahead of the series. However, if India qualifies, they are expected to participate in the World Test Championship final, likely scheduled just before the England series begins. Currently, India leads the WTC standings with a win percentage of 68.51, although Australia tops the points table.

India’s last tour of England in 2021 saw them come tantalizingly close to a series win. Under Virat Kohli, India won two of the first four Tests, with Rohit Sharma playing a pivotal role with his first overseas Test century at The Oval. However, the final Test at Manchester was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak and was later rescheduled to 2022, where England won by seven wickets at Edgbaston, leaving the series drawn.
Earlier this year, India and England faced off in a five-Test series in India, where India emerged victorious with a 4-1 comeback win. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer, amassing over 700 runs, including two double-centuries.
