Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2023: India Secures Semi-Final Spot Mauling Chinese Taipei 11-0

Kakamigahara (Japan): The Indian junior women’s hockey team secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Asia Cup after a resounding 11-0 victory over Chinese Taipei in their last pool match. This impressive win solidified India’s position at the top of Pool A. Remaining unbeaten throughout the group stage, India won three games and drew one.

The goal scorers for India were Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke (1′), Deepika (3′), Annu (10′, 52′), Rutuja Dadaso Pisal (12′), Neelam (19′), Manju Chorsiya (33′), Sunelita Toppo (43′, 57′), Deepika Soreng (46′), and Mumtaz Khan (55′).

Right from the beginning, India showcased their dominance by launching relentless attacks against Chinese Taipei. Vaishnavi opened the scoring with a field goal, followed by Deepika converting a penalty corner to double India’s lead. Annu and Rutuja added a goal each before the end of the first quarter, giving India a comfortable 4-0 advantage.

In the second quarter, India continued to control the game through ball possession and consistent attacks. Notably, Neelam found the back of the net, allowing India to enter halftime with a commanding 5-0 lead.

The third quarter saw India maintain their dominance as Manju and Toppo scored field goals, resulting in India leading 7-0 at the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter, the Indian team displayed no signs of slowing down. Deepika Soreng, Annu, Mumtaz Khan, and Toppo each contributed a goal, leading India to a resounding victory.

In the semi-final on Saturday, India will face either Japan or Kazakhstan.
