Bengaluru: India’s space agency, ISRO, unveiled captivating images of the Moon, captured by cameras mounted on Chandrayaan-3’s Lander Module. These visuals, obtained after the Lander Module’s separation from the Propulsion Module, showcase prominent lunar craters like ‘Fabry,’ ‘Giordano Bruno,’ and ‘Harkhebi J.’
The images were taken by the Lander Position Detection Camera (LPDC) on August 15, and the Lander Imager (LI) Camera-1 on August 17, immediately after the separation. The successful deboosting operation brought the Lander Module, housing the Vikram lander and Pragyan rover, to a healthy orbit of 113 km x 157 km.

The next deboosting maneuver, scheduled for August 20, aims to lower the Lander Module even closer to the Moon’s surface in preparation for the anticipated soft landing on the Lunar south pole on August 23.
ISRO affirmed that the Lander Module’s health remains optimal after the successful deboosting operation. This achievement comes 35 days after the Chandrayaan-3 satellite’s launch on July 14. Stay tuned as ISRO continues to propel India’s lunar exploration efforts to new heights.
