WATCH: ISRO Releases Breathtaking Moon Video Captured by Chandrayaan-3 Lander Prior to Historic Touchdown

Bengaluru: ISRO has shared the scintillating footage from Chandrayaan-3’s lander during its historic lunar landing. The successful touchdown of the ‘Vikram’ lander near the Moon’s south pole at 6.03 pm on Wednesday marks a significant achievement for the mission.

Additionally, The Indian space agency revealed that the rover ‘Pragyan’ has safely descended from the lander, marking India’s lunar exploration milestone. This rover will transmit data to the lander, which will then relay it to Earth.

Comprising a total mass of 1,752 kg, the Chandrayaan-3 lander and rover are designed for a 14-day mission to explore and study the Moon’s surface.

Equipped with advanced tools, the rover will perform chemical analysis of the lunar landscape. Its payloads, such as the Alpha Particle X-ray spectrometer (APXS), will provide insights into the chemical and mineralogical composition of the lunar surface.

Further, Pragyan carries the Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) to further study the elemental composition of lunar soil and rocks around the landing site.

Both the lander and rover house scientific instruments for on-site experiments, bolstering lunar research.
