Italian PM Meloni Welcomes PM Modi with Traditional ‘Namaste’ at G7 Summit

Apulia (Italy): Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni extended a traditional ‘namaste’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival at the Group of Seven (G7) Summit venue in Apulia, Italy.

PM Modi arrived late Thursday night to attend the G7 Outreach Summit.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi engaged in bilateral meetings with several world leaders including President Emmanuel Macron of France, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine.

Before departing, PM Modi expressed satisfaction that his first state visit of his new term was to Italy for the G7. He reminisced about his previous Italian visit for the 2021 G20 Summit and acknowledged Meloni’s two trips to India last year, which he credited with strengthening bilateral relations.

PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to bolstering the strategic partnership with Italy and enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions. He highlighted the growing momentum and depth in the India-Italy bilateral agenda, fostered by recent high-level exchanges.
