Jailed Jharkhand Min Alamgir Alam Resigns from State Cabinet

Ranchi: Alamgir Alam, the Jharkhand minister, who is in prison after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, has resigned from the state cabinet and also as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

Alam tendered his resignation through a letter sent from the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi to Chief Minister Champai Soren.

Alam also sent another letter to the AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge from the jail submitting his resignation from the post of leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Jharkhand.

He was arrested by the ED on May 15 arrested days after around Rs 32 crore cash was seized from premises linked to his aide.
