Kejriwal Meets SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav for Opposition Unity

New Delhi: AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow on Wednesday. Both leaders discussed opposition unity ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections and support for AAP’s fight against the centre over the ordinance on control of Delhi bureaucrats.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi minister Atishi accompanied Kejriwal. Kejriwal is meeting leaders of non-BJP parties to gather support against the centre’s ordinance on control of services in the national capital. AAP wants the bill of the centre to replace the ordinance to be defeated in the Rajya Sabha, where the BJP does not have the required majority to pass the bill.

On May 11, the Supreme Court handed over the control of services in Delhi, excluding police, public order and land, to the elected Delhi government. But on May 19, the central government came up with an ordinance to create an authority for the transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi.
