Kidney Racket Run from Bangladesh Busted by Delhi Police, Female Doctor Among 7 Arrested

New Delhi: A kidney racket being run from Bangladesh was busted by the crime branch of the Delhi Police. Seven persons involved in the kidney racket were arrested.

According to an India Today report, those arrested persons include a 50-year-old woman doctor. This doctor is alleged to have operated on nearly 16 patients at a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida.

The crime branch of the Delhi Police made the arrests with the help of the Rajasthan Police as the racket was also operating there. The arrested doctor, identified as Vijaya Kumari, was employed at a hospital in Delhi’s Sarita Vihar.

According to the Delhi Police, this kidney racket was masterminded in Bangladesh. Patients from Bangladesh were allegedly being sent to India for treatment. Some patients were brought to India under the pretext of job offers, and their kidneys were removed. On some occasions, patients were also forced to donate their kidneys by creating fake documents in the name of their relatives.

The hospital suspended the arrested woman doctor.
