Labourer Saves 2 Lives Before He Suffocates to Death While Cleaning Well in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: A labourer died of asphyxiation while cleaning a well at Ganianala village under Digapahandi police station limits in Ganjam district, on Thursday.

The deceased identified as Dibakar Sahu from Naranpur village, however, saved the lives of two other labourers engaged in the same work.

According to sources, three labourers including Dibakar were hired to clean a well at Ganianala village. Two of them went down the well, while Dibakar was overseeing the work standing outside.

When these two labourers did not respond after some time, suspecting that they were victims of asphyxiation, Dibakar went inside the well and rescued the duo who had fainted due to suffocation. But Dibakar could not come out of the well.

Receiving information about the incident, fire brigade personnel reached the spot and took out Dibakar from the well. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
