Lightning Strike Kills Woman, Injures 7 in Puri Dist

Puri: A woman lost her life and seven others were seriously injured when lightning struck them at Chhaitana Bhoi Sahi in Odisha’s Puri district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kunti Bhoi of Bhuan village under Balighai police station limits.

All these eight persons were involved in the sowing of paddy in a field when the lightning struck them. They were rushed to Puri district Headquarters Hospital where Kunti died while undergoing treatment.

Two days back, in a similar lightning strike, two persons died and three others were injured at Raipitambar village under the Soro police station limits in the Balasore district. All of them were working in a paddy field when lightning struck them.
