Lights Used for Beautification of Puri Srimandir Removed, Odisha Chief Secy Orders Collector to Initiate Action

Puri: The lights installed to illuminate and beautify the exterior of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri were suddenly removed after the change of government in Odisha.

These lights were installed by the side of Bada Danda and  ‘Meghanada Pachiri’ boundary wall of the temple as part of the Srimandir Parikrama project of the Odisha government.

According to sources, an event company had installed them on a rental basis. Sudden removal of these lights was resented by the inhabitants of Puri as well as the servitors of the temple.

Reacting to this development, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena instructed the Puri collector to initiate an enquiry into this matter and take appropriate action against the persons involved.

“I have instructed Collector Puri @dm_puri to cause an enquiry into this matter and take appropriate action against the persons involved. Further efforts to be made to restore lights at the earliest pending permanent solution to the problem if any at govt level,” Jena posted on X.
