Man Accused of Molesting His Minor Daughter Attempts Suicide In Police Custody

Bhubaneswar: A person arrested for allegedly molesting his minor daughter attempted suicide while in police custody in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night.

He was rescued by the policemen and was admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to reports, Badal Dal from Sailasahi area of Bhubaneswar was arrested on Tuesday on charges of molesting his 14-year-old daughter. In the police station, he wanted to use the toilet. Inside the bathroom he tried to commit suicide by cutting his hand by some sharp object. Hearing his screams, cops broke open the door of the toilet and rescued him in an injured condition.

On May 27, Badal’s wife and minor daughter filed a complaint at the Maitri Vihar police station in Bhubaneswar alleging that Badal was molesting his daughter. His daughter alleged that her father often touched her inappropriately and tried to molest her.

The police arrested Badal on Tuesday evening and he was booked under the POCSO Act.
