Man Rapes Married Woman After Providing Lift, Arrested in Mayurbhanj Dist

Baripada: A man identified as Rabindra Behera was arrested by police in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district for allegedly raping a married woman after providing her lift.

According to reports, the 35-year-old victim is from a village under Rupsa police station limits.

While she was waiting for a bus to go to the hospital on Friday evening, the accused from Bangaladahi village under Baisinga police limits offered her lift on his bike.

Without doubting his intention, the woman accepted his offer. Taking the woman as a pillion rider on his bike Rabindra took her to a deserted spot inside the forest and raped her.

Rabindra fled after raping the woman. The victim was rescued by some passerby locals.

Acting on the complaint registered by the victim at the Baisinga police station, an investigation led to the arrest of Rabindra on Sunday. He was sent to jail as his bail plea was rejected.
