Man Shoots Dead Elder Sister in Keonjhar District

Keonjhar: A man allegedly shot dead his elder sister at Somagiri village under Pandapada police station limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Friday.

The deceased identified as Malati Barik was fired at by her younger brother Prasanna Barik. Prasanna worked as a security guard and possessed a gun with a license.

Unmarried Malati was living with Prasanna’s family. Prasanna was demanding money from Malati for his treatment.

When Malati refused to give him any money, Prasanna lost his cool and opened fire at his sister with his licensed gun.

Although neighbours rushed Malati to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), doctors found her ‘brought dead’.

Personnel of the Pandapada police station arrested Prasanna and seized his gun.
