Paris Paralympics: Manish Narwal Clinches Silver in 10m Air Pistol, Secures India’s 4th Medal

Paris: Manish Narwal secured a silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on August 30. With this achievement, the 23-year-old shooter became only the sixth Indian athlete to win multiple medals at the Summer Paralympic Games.

In the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 final held in Chateauroux, Manish scored 234.9 points, finishing second behind South Korea’s Jeongdu Jo, who claimed gold with 237.4 points. China’s Chao Yang took bronze with a score of 214.3.

Manish struggled in the early stages, starting with a score of 8.8 on his first attempt. However, the 2020 Tokyo gold medalist demonstrated resilience by making a strong comeback. Despite a commendable effort in the final rounds, including a score of 9.9 in his last attempt, Manish finished second due to a weaker initial performance.

Earlier the same day, Avani Lekhara won gold and Mona Agarwal claimed bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event, contributing to India’s impressive start at the 17th Summer Paralympic Games.

Manish’s silver medal propelled India into the top 10 of the medal standings, with the nation now ranked ninth, surpassing Japan and South Korea.
