Meta Fires Top Executives in India

New Delhi: Recent layoffs in Meta, the parent company of Facebook, have impacted employees in India including some of the top executives like Avinash Pant, the director of marketing for India, Saket Jha Saurabh, the director of media partnerships, and Amrita Mukherjee, the director of legal at Meta India. All of them were reportedly asked to step down.

As per Moneycontrol, Amrita Mukherjee, who headed the legal team at Hotstar before joining Meta, was laid off. Mukherjee’s Linkedin account states that she has been a part of the company for ten months.

The recent layoffs in Meta in India included the loss of jobs in marketing, administration, human resources, and other departments of the company. Meta has not given any immediate comment on the recent job cuts in India.

Since November of 2022, Meta has eliminated a total of 21,000 employees. Last month, around 4,000 of the planned 10,000 job cuts were implemented. Approximately 6,000 more positions are potentially at risk of being eliminated.
