Model Code of Conduct Withdrawn in Odisha and Other States by the ECI

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday announced the withdrawals of the model code of conduct, which was in force in Odisha and other States since the declaration of the election schedule.

In a letter to chief secretaries of all states and Union Territories on Thursday, the ECI said the provisions of model code of conduct were enforced from the date of announcement of the election schedule by the ECI and remained in operation till the completion of the election process.

“Now, that the results in respect of the General Elections to the Lok Sabha, 2024 and State Legislative Assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim, and byelections have been declared by the respective Returning Officers, the Model Code of Conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect,” the letter said.

The voting to 21 Lok Sabha constituencies and 147 Assembly segments concluded on June 1. The results of both elections were declared on June 4.
