Monsoon Arrives in Odisha 4 Days Before Time

Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon reached parts of south Odisha especially Malkangiri district on Saturday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

It was an early arrival of the southwest monsoon in the state. Monsoon usually reaches parts of south Odisha around June 12. This year it has hit the state around four days in advance.

The northern limit of monsoon now passes through Baramati, Nizamabad, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar Manorama Mohanty said.

The IMD had earlier informed that conditions were conducive for the early arrival of southwest monsoon in Odisha.
