New Gen Missile Agni Prime Flight Tested Off Odisha Coast

New Delhi: Agni Prime, India’s New Generation Ballistic Missile was successfully flight tested by DRDO on June 7 evening at around 7:30 pm from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

According to reports, during this flight test of the missile, all factors were successfully demonstrated.

It was the first pre-induction night launch of the Agni Prime missile following three successful developmental trials confirming the accuracy and reliability of the system.

A number of Range Instrumentation like Radar, Telemetry and Electro Optical Tracking Systems were deployed at different locations including two downrange ships at the terminal point to capture flight data covering entire trajectory of the vehicle.

Agni-P or Agni-Prime is a medium-range ballistic missile being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as a successor for Agni-I and Agni-II missiles.
