NIA Raids Multiple Locations in Punjab Linked to Goldy Brar’s Associates

Chandigarh: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted raids at various locations in Punjab linked to associates of Canada-based terrorist Goldy Brar. This operation is part of the ongoing investigation into an extortion and firing case, as stated in an official release.

The NIA’s search, which spanned nine locations, is connected to a case originally registered in Chandigarh on January 20. The agency took over the probe on March 18. The NIA also urged the public to provide information on Goldy Brar and his gang, promising confidentiality for informants. Information can be shared via the landline number 0172-2682901 or mobile number 7743002947 (available on Telegram/WhatsApp).

The raids occurred just a day after the NIA filed charges against Brar and 11 others for their involvement in the killing of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur last year.

Thursday’s raids covered Mohali, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, and Fatehgarh Sahib, where NIA teams seized incriminating materials, including digital devices. Investigations revealed that Brar and an associate, known as Goldy from Rajpura, conspired to extort funds from businessmen in Punjab, Chandigarh, and nearby areas.

The NIA disclosed that Brar’s network was involved in supplying arms and ammunition, smuggling and selling narcotics, and recruiting vulnerable youth for criminal activities. Brar, a prominent figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, also claimed responsibility for the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on May 29, 2022.
