Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an additional public holiday on September 9 to mark the Nuakhai festival.
Nuakhai, an important agrarian festival, falls on September 8 this year, which is a Sunday. To ensure the celebration continues smoothly, September 9 has been declared a holiday, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

All government offices, magisterial courts and educational institutions across the state will remain closed on September 9.
This year, the first harvested crop, ‘Nabanna’, will be offered to the goddess in Sambalpur during the auspicious Lagna (time) between 9:12 am and 9:27 AM on September 8.
