Bhubaneswar: The Central Government’s flagship Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) is set to launch in Odisha, alongside the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), according to Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
GJAY, which has replaced the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) from the previous BJD government, will provide cashless treatment in nearly 27,000 empanelled hospitals nationwide, alongside AB PM-JAY.
Mahaling further announced that about 3 crore beneficiaries from over 1 crore households will receive health cards under the new scheme. The programme also extends coverage to senior citizens above 70 years and migrant labourers. While 67 lakh households will benefit from Ayushman Bharat, the remaining 33 lakh will be covered under GJAY.
Under the new health system, men will receive coverage up to ₹5 lakh, while women will have coverage of up to ₹10 lakh, Mahaling added.
