Odisha CM Demands 12 Companies of Force, Chopper to End Naxal Menace

New Delhi: At the meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah to review the security situation in Naxal-affected regions with the chief ministers and top officials of the LWE-hit states, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi demanded for 12 companies of central forces and a helicopter to intensify the anti-naxal operations in the state.

Shah declared that the government is committed to end Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) menace in the country by March 2026.

The LWE affected states include Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The Odisha CM said, “Odisha is facing left-wing extremism in 10 districts sharing borders with Chhattisgarh and other states. Focus is given on strengthening the border sharing with Chhattisgarh as there is a chance of influx of rebels who might set up temporary base here,” said CM Majhi.

He added that Odisha has requested 12 companies of security forces and one helicopter. The state has also sought assistance in carrying out other developmental works like road and mobile connectivity, and banking services in Maoist-infested interior pockets.
