Odisha to Set Up Model Schools in Every Panchayat, Announces CM Majhi on Teachers’ Day

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unveiled a series of initiatives to enhance the state’s education system on Teachers’ Day. Among these, the most significant announcement was the establishment of model schools in every panchayat across the state.

The government will fully fund these model schools, which will be named after Odisha’s first Education Minister, Godabarisha Mishra. The ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya’ scheme aims to provide quality primary education to children in rural and semi-urban areas. With a budgetary allocation of Rs 50 crore, the government is committed to improving the educational standards in these regions.

To support the initiative, the state plans to recruit a total of 27,197 teachers for the model schools during the current financial year. Among these, 16,010 junior teachers will be appointed within the next three months.

In addition, the government launched the ‘Nipuna Odisha’ program, focusing on culture-based teaching. This initiative aims to integrate cultural elements into the curriculum, providing a more holistic educational experience for students.

At the state-level Teachers’ Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar, 44,728 students from 30 districts were recognised for their achievements and presented with awards.
