Odisha Braces for Chilly Nights as Fog Blankets State, Light Rain Expected in Pockets

Bhubaneswar: In the face of dense fog warnings and ongoing rainfall, Odisha is expected to witness a gradual drop in night temperatures within the next 24 hours, as per the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday.

The IMD midday bulletin predicts a marginal change in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours, followed by a subsequent 2-3 degree Celsius decrease at various locations in the next three days.

As of 8:30 am on January 24, a yellow warning is in place for dense fog in specific areas, including Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh districts.

Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in Interior Odisha and a few places in North Coastal districts. Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in North Odisha and some areas of South Odisha.

From January 24 at 8:30 am to January 25 at 8:30 am, the yellow warning continues, with dense fog likely in various districts, including Kalahandi, Balangir, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in Interior Odisha and selected coastal districts.

Additionally, light rain may occur in specific areas of Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput districts during this period.

The Meteorological Office forecasts dry weather post this period.
