Orissa High Court Bars Publication of Names of Army Officer, His Fiancee in Bharatpur Case

Cuttack: In a directive on Monday, the Odisha High Court barred the publication of the names of the Army Major and his fiancee by electronic, print or social media. , directed Orissa High Court.

The Court made this order while hearing a Public Interest Litigation related to the incident. The High Court has taken Suo Motu cognizance of the Bharatpur police station assault case.

The Court said, it will not interfere in the matter as the state government has ordered for a Judicial Inquiry into the matter.

The Odisha government has informed the Court regarding the suspension of five police officials and Crime Branch is also investigating the matter.

The Orissa High Court on Monday also directed ADG (Modernisation) to submit a status report on CCTV cameras at police stations across the state. The High Court has also appointed Amicus Curiae in this regard.
