Pakistan General Elections in last Week of January 2024

General elections in Pakistan will be held in the last week of January 2024, announced Pakistan’s election commission on Thursday.

Pakistan’s electoral body stated that the initial list for the delimitation of constituencies would be published on September 27, inviting objections and suggestions. The final list of delimitations will be out on November 30.

As per the norms, general elections in Pakistan are to be held within 90 days after the dissolution of the National Assembly. Pakistan’s National Assembly was dissolved on August 9.

Before dissolution, the outgoing government announced that the elections would take place only after a new census was completed and new constituency boundaries were drawn.

The Constitution of Pakistan also mentions that the ECP should complete the delimitation process within 120 days.
