Passengers of Air India Flight Stranded in Russia Depart for San Francisco

All passengers and crew members of the US-bound Air India flight that made an emergency landing in Russia’s Magadan have started for San Francisco in a replacement flight on Thursday.

In a tweet, Air India confirmed the replacement flight would arrive in San Francisco at 12.15 am PDT (0715 GMT) on Thursday.

The Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco made an emergency landing in Russia’s remote town of Magadan on Tuesday after it developed an engine problem. There were 232 passengers on board.

The flight departed GDX at 1027 hours on June 8 (local time) and is expected to arrive at SFO at 0015 hours on June 8 (local time), the Air India officials said.

Air India has mobilized additional on-ground support at SFO to carry out the clearance formalities for all passengers upon arrival.
