Peasant Couple Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Balangir Dist

Balangir: A peasant couple was killed when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle near Patrapali square under Muribahal police station in Balangir district on Wednesday.

The deceased were Gambhir Rana and his wife Gita Rana. They were on their way to their agricultural field when they were run over by the vehicle.

The accident-causing vehicle also hit a cow and killed it on the spot.

Locals blocked the Raipur-Gopalpur NH-59 at the spot of the accident for sometime demanding the seizure of the accident-causing vehicle and compensation for family members of the deceased.

Muribahal police and the local Tehsildar rushed to the spot to pacify the protestors.
