Bhubaneswar: After arriving in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sabar Sahi slum in Gadakana area and interacted with the inhabitants who are beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The PM enquired about various issues relating to the area with the locals including women. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra were also present.
According to reports, a girl of the area presented kheer and a painting of Lord Jagannath to the PM to mark his. The PM also visited some houses during his visit to the slum.
He inaugurated the house of a PMAY beneficiary, Antaryami Nayak. In total houses of around 36 beneficiaries of PM Awas Yojana were inaugurated.
According to sources, PM Modi distributed 10 lakh PM Awas houses in Odisha.
The 35 PMAY houses have been constructed by BMC in the Gadakana area. Each eligible family was given Rs 2 lakh in four instalments for the houses.
The PMAY colony at Gadakana has a community toilet facility, streetlights and a 24×7 power supply. Each house has a kitchen and there is a community hall as well.
From Gadakana, the PM traveled to the Janata Maidan to inaugurate the Subhadra Yojana of Odisha government.
