PM Modi Gifts Antique Silver Train Model to President Biden During US Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his three-day visit to the US, presented an antique silver hand-engraved train model to US President Joe Biden. The gift was exchanged during a meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, ahead of the Quad Leaders’ Summit.

The train model, crafted by skilled artisans from Maharashtra, is made of 92.5% silver and bears inscriptions of “DELHI-DELAWARE” on the main carriage and “INDIAN RAILWAYS” on the engine in both English and Hindi.

PM Modi also gifted a Kashmiri pashmina shawl to First Lady Jill Biden.

Earlier, the two leaders held bilateral talks at President Biden’s residence in Greenville, Delaware. The discussion, which PM Modi described as “extremely fruitful,” focused on strengthening India-US cooperation and tackling global and regional issues, particularly concerning the Indo-Pacific.

Following the meeting, President Biden praised the growing partnership between the US and India, stating that it is “stronger, closer, and more dynamic than ever before.” PM Modi echoed the sentiment, emphasising the productive exchange of ideas.

A joint statement later called the India-US partnership the “defining relationship of the 21st century,” noting its significant contribution to global progress.
