Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Subhadra Yojana, a major poll promise of the BJP, at a mega function held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The first installment was credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the scheme.
Under the Subhadra scheme, women beneficiaries will get a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over a period of five years between 2024-25 and 2028-29.
With the inauguration of the scheme, 25 lakh women will receive Rs 5,000 in their bank accounts on Tuesday. More than one crore women across the state are expected to be benefited under the Subhadra scheme.
The women who had registered themselves for the scheme by September 15 will get the first instalment through their bank accounts soon after the launch.
Just before arriving in Odisha the PM posted on X, “Leaving for Bhubaneswar. It is very special to be among the wonderful people of Odisha to launch SUBHADRA, an important scheme of the Odisha Government. This scheme will boost women empowerment and ensure financial independence for our Nari Shakti. Several other works will also be launched in the programme.”
In his address, Odisha CM Mohan Majhi said, “BJP had promised Subhadra Yojana before coming to power. Today, PM Modi visited the state for the launch of the mega scheme and we have fulfilled our promise.”
Odisha Deputy CM Pravati Parida said, “Subhadra Yojana is PM Modi’s guarantee and BJP’s commitment. We have set a target to extend the scheme to one crore beneficiaries and 72 lakh beneficiaries have already completed the registration process.”
