PM Modi Thanks Citizens for Overwhelming Support As NDA Secures Historic 3rd Term

New Delhi: In a landmark victory, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi clinched its third consecutive term in India’s 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The NDA surpassed expectations, securing 294 seats, while the Opposition INDIA bloc made significant strides, winning 234 seats.

PM Modi, who retained his Varanasi seat with a 1.5 lakh vote margin, expressed gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “People have placed their faith in NDA, for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India’s history. I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people. I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts”.

Despite PM Modi’s reduced victory margin in Varanasi compared to 2019, the BJP’s overall performance remained strong. However, Uttar Pradesh sprung surprises, with the BJP and Samajwadi Party (SP) locked in an unexpectedly tight race. Notably, SP’s Awadhesh Prasad leads in Faizabad, which includes Ayodhya, by over 33,000 votes, defying predictions centred on the Ram temple’s influence.
