Former Salipur MLA Prakash Chandra Behera Quits BJD

Cuttack: Former MLA of Salipur Prakash Chandra Behera resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha. His resignation was submitted today to BJD president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Behera had joined BJD earlier this year after leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha. He contested the 2024 Assembly polls from the Barabati-Cuttack constituency but was unsuccessful.

Previously, Behera was elected to the Odisha Assembly from the Salipur seat in 2014 as a member of the Congress party. He switched to the BJP ahead of the 2019 elections and contested from Salipur on their ticket, but lost to BJD candidate Prashant Behera.
