Prez Murmu Takes Early Morning Stroll On Puri Beach; Praises Meditative Experience of Nature

Puri: President Droupadi Murmu took a stroll on Puri Golden Beach amid tight security early on Monday. She was in Puri on Sunday to witness the world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.

After spending around half an hour at the Puri bench, she described her experience through a long note on X, “As I walked along the seashore today, I felt a communion with the surroundings – the gentle wind, the roar of the waves, and the immense expanse of water. It brought to me a profound inner peace that I had also felt when I had a darshan of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannathji yesterday.”

She made all remember the recent spate of terrible heatwaves in India and frequent extreme weather events around the globe and asked people to take smaller and local steps to protect the environment for a better tomorrow. “Oceans and the rich variety of flora and fauna have suffered heavily due to pollution but people living in nature’s lap have sustained traditions that can show us the way”.

“Inhabitants of coastal areas, for example, know the language of the winds and waves of the sea. Following our ancestors, they worship the sea as God,” she said, while suggesting ways to protect and conserve the environment.

The President is on a four-day Odisha visit. On Monday, she will visit Udayagiri Caves and interact with the students of Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts and Utkal University of Culture. She will then inaugurate the Divine Retreat Centre of Brahma Kumaris at Haridamada village near Bhubaneswar and launch the ‘Lifestyle for Sustainability’ campaign.

She is to attend the 13th Graduation Ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar on July 9.
