Pune Porsche Crash: 2 Cops Suspended, Case Transferred to Crime Branch

Pune: In the wake of public outrage over alleged police lapses in the Pune Porsche accident case, two police officers have been suspended and the case has been transferred to the Pune Police Crime Branch.

Police Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari, both from Yerwada police station, were suspended for failing to inform their superiors, including the deputy commissioner on night duty, about the accident.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 am on Sunday, when a 17-year-old, celebrating his Class 12 results with friends at two Pune pubs, rammed his Porsche car into a bike carrying two 24-year-old IT professionals in Kalyani Nagar. The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of Aneesh Awadhiya, who was thrown into a parked car, and Ashwini Koshta, who was flung 20 feet into the air.

Several media reports suggested preferential treatment given to the teenager, the son of a prominent Pune real estate developer, and noted delays in his medical testing. Sources also highlighted that the officers did not inform the central police control room, a procedural requirement to ensure proper case documentation and the involvement of senior officials when necessary.

The case, initially registered at Yerwada police station, has now been reassigned to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
