Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit Resigns Citing Personal Reasons

New Delhi: Punjab Governor and Union Territory Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit submitted his resignation to the President citing personal reasons.

The Governor met with the President on Friday to inform her about his desire to step down from the constitutional post.

While in Delhi, Purohit also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

The meeting came days after the BJP swept the Chandigarh mayoral polls, retaining all three posts, a setback to the Congress-AAP alliance, which alleged tampering with ballot papers by the presiding officer.
