Puri Chandan Yatra Explosion Death Toll Rises to 4

Bhubaneswar: The death toll in the Puri fireworks explosion during Chandan Yatra reached four as another burn injury victim died during treatment on Friday.

Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) quoted the state Health & FW Department to state that another person died due to the unfortunate fire tragedy in Puri. “In this connection, total death toll raised to four,” stated the release.

Puri District Collector has initiated measures for payment of Rs 4 lakh each towards ex-gratia assistance to the next of kin of the four deceased persons.

According to reports, at present 26 persons injured in the explosion are under treatment in different hospitals in Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack.

The state government is closely monitoring the situation, the release added.
