Opening of Ratna Bhandar on July 8 Unlikely Due to Rath Yatra: Justice Arijit Pasayat

Bhubaneswar: Justice Arijit Pasayat, chair of the committee overseeing the inventory of Puri Srimandir’s Ratna Bhandar, revealed on Wednesday that the treasure trove might not be opened on July 8 due to the Rath Yatra.

Pasayat, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, will stay in Puri until July 27. He is set to attend a 12-member supervising committee meeting on July 5 to discuss the inventory procedures.

He underlined that the decision to open the Ratna Bhandar lies with the government. “Our work will commence once the government decides to open the treasury,” Pasayat stated.

The specifics of the inventory process will be finalised in the meeting on July 5, and these will be implemented post the opening of the Ratna Bhandar, he added.
