Radical Sikh Preacher Amritpal Singh, Son of Indira Gandhi’s Killer Win As Independents in Punjab

Chandigarh: Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh who is in jail under the NSA as well as Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, the son of one of the assassins of Indira Gandhi, won the Lok Sabha elections as independent candidates from Punjab.

Amritpal Singh won the Khadoor Sahib by a margin of 1,97,120 votes defeating his nearest rival and Congress candidate Kulbuir Singh Zira.

Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa won in Faridkot by 70,053 over AAP’s Karamjit Singh Anmol.

Both contested the polls as Independents. Radical Sikh preacher Singh, the chief of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit, is lodged in a jail in Assam booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA). Singh who styled himself after dead Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was arrested in Moga’s Rode village on April 23, 2023.
