Puri: A first-year MBBS student of Sri Jagannath Medical College in Puri has lodged a complaint alleging ragging by a group of seniors.
Acting on the complaint by the student, the Dean of the medical college has lodged an FIR at Penthakata Marine police station. Police have started an investigation into this ragging allegation.
The complainant has alleged that some second-year students forcibly shaved off his beard and misbehaved with him. After discussing the matter with the anti-ragging committee of the institution, the dean of the medical college filed a police complaint.
Recently, a first-year student of Jadavpur University allegedly became a victim of ragging and died after falling from the balcony of a students’ hostel on August 10. Till now, a dozen individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. They include six present and six former students of the Jadavpur university.
