Rahul Gandhi Keeps Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi To Make Lok Sabha Debut From Wayanad

New Delhi: The Congress party announced on Monday that Rahul Gandhi will relinquish his Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala to retain Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, a traditional stronghold of the Gandhi family. Simultaneously, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will make her electoral debut by contesting from Wayanad.

This decision was disclosed by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge during a high-level meeting. Kharge, accompanied by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, highlighted the urgency of the decision as Tuesday marks the deadline for such changes. “Rahul Gandhi will represent Raebareli, a seat deeply connected with his family for generations, and Priyanka ji will contest from Wayanad,” Kharge announced, adding humorously that “a threat has been given” to ensure compliance with the party’s decision.

Rahul Gandhi acknowledged the emotional difficulty of the decision, expressing his gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their support during his tenure as their MP. “Although Priyanka will contest from Wayanad, I will remain actively involved there. The people of Wayanad now have two MPs – my sister and me,” he reassured.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her enthusiasm and commitment to her new constituency, vowing to uphold her brother’s legacy in Wayanad. “I will work hard to be a good representative and ensure the people of Wayanad don’t feel Rahul’s absence,” she promised.
